Handheld Planetary Surveyor
This device allows you to scan the surface of planets for various pieces of information that are of interest to researchers in known space. You can wear the device and, when you locate a planet out of known space, you land and USE the device in every room on the planet. When you return to local space, simply RESEARCH the scanner at any research center and you will be rewarded.
